Grupo Kativo: Anti-dumping (2005-2007)

imgKativo.jpgIn August 2005, Grupo Kativo requested an investigation to the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce for alleged "dumping" practices, taking place on Costa Rica´s paint industry. Their goal was to prove that a company called Celera Group, main provider/exporter of American Paint, was committing unfair competition.

In Comunicación Corporativa Ketchum we took the challenge of keeping the subject present in the agenda of various publics during the time of the legal process.

The strategic solution included the spreading of the message to the largest amount of publics through many different actions, assuring us that this topic could be kept alive, allowing us to win allies to our purpose.

Among the actions taken we can list the following:

  • Press conferences
  • Interviews coordination with our spokespeople
  • Meetings with strategic allies
  • Lobbying with political authorities
  • A corporate image campaign, developed with Tribu Saatchi & Saatchi advertising agency.

The most important result was determined by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Commerce because the anti-dumping measures were applied against CELERA Group. They now have to pay 51,6% on the value declared on the products import invoice.
